Underground petroleum storage tanks leak, not all but many. This video shows free product in one of many catch basins that were impacted from a leaking steel, heating oil storage tank. If you are going to convert to natural gas or replace your underground tank with an aboveground system, properly remove or abandon your current underground tank to avoid impact to the environment including groundwater and stormwater basins.
